Welcome to Bucher PublishingThe year 2006 marked Bucher’s 50th anniversary as a publisher of illustrated books. We proudly honored the occasion with the launch of our international program. We are very pleased with the success of our books published in the English language, and we continue to add exciting new titles to our list. We look forward to introducing you to our renowned photographers, excellent authors, and the beautifully illustrated books we produce together. Our company slogan – “the colors of our world” – sums up the Bucher philosophy and aptly describes our exciting new program. The international list follows on a long tradition of success. It was 50 years ago that Bucher established itself as a publisher of high-quality illustrated travel and non-fiction books. Our very first volume was “Greece,” a book so successful that it enjoyed seven parallel co-editions on the international market. The 1960s witnessed the increased success of this program segment. Illustrated volumes such as “The Kingdom of the Horse” and photography books such as “Men,” “Nude Photography,” and “The German Living Room” helped make a name for the publisher. The company changed hands during the following two decades, but has now settled in as part of a larger concern in southern Germany. Bucher has enjoyed its status as the illustrated book publisher of the Munich-based Geranova-Bruckmann publishing group since 2004. Since its early days in 1956, Bucher has published more than 1,000 volumes in the German language on topics such as travel, photography, art, and cultural history – in short, the many-colored facets of our world reflected in beautifully illustrated books. Our goal now is to publish the same number of books in the English language, bringing you the variety of subjects and quality of publications that have earned this house its well-respected name.
