Beautiful Hamburg

There is hardly anyone who does not automatically associate the name Hamburg with the phrase »the gateway to the world«. They belong together like the ebb and flow: Hamburg and St. Pauli, the most well-known district, representing Hamburg throughout the world. And only then is the complete name of Germany's second largest city recalled: the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The city has grown larger and larger, prosperous and eminent, cosmopolitan and tolerant. It was always proud and free. “When you come from the south, Hamburg lies directly before Greenland. When you come from the north, Hamburg lies directly in Africa”, or so it goes in a local hit. Today, the city finds itself in the middle of a greatly expanded Europe. “The gateway to the world” - it is open wider than ever.
